The technology giant has just launched a program so that more seasoned hackers can earn money with what is called "white hat hacking." These are those who use their knowledge to put them at the service of troubleshooting in the lines of programming and prevent other hackers from using those vulnerabilities.
The gesture has to do with the fact that they want their app store not to have contaminated or insecure apps for users, and so they have started this program with the collaboration of HackerOne, a website that is dedicated to recruiting hackers who are dedicated to this type of programs of detection of serious failures of applications and systems.
At the moment, 13 applications are participating in this program, among which are some as important as Tinder, Dropbox, Snapchat, Alibaba or Line, although it is expected that in the following phases of the program can be incorporated also others relevant.
The award given by the company to detect any of those failures that inhabit the lines of code is not much, just $ 1,000. Contrast with the $ 1,788 on average that usually charge hackers who find vulnerabilities for Facebook and communicate them for resolution.
As for the steps that follow to find this type of failure, Google specifies it as follows:
1. The hacker identifies the vulnerability in the app and reports it directly to the developer through our vulnerability system.
2. The app developer works hand-in-hand with the hacker to resolve the vulnerability
3. Once it is resolved, the hacker asks the reward for the program activated by Google
4. The Android security team can give the hacker an additional reward in appreciation for improving the security of the Google Play ecosystem.
So you know, if you have doubts about what you want to study, there is always the option to become a hacker (of the good ones) to be able to get you a monthly wage ... if you are lucky.
