What we know now, is that together, WhatsApp and Instagram have managed to overcome the active users of the arch rival Snapchat, reaching about 300 million in total, almost twice as Snapchat in fact.
Snapchat today reaches some 172 million active users in their stories, and it seems to be slowly leaving behind the other two major popular social networking systems.

The upload of Instagram is believed to have come very hand in hand with the addition of augmented reality filters, something that has made the social network even more popular among users.
