The Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact join the Open Devices program: the door to new ROMs is open

The world of development of ROMs, because of the difficulties that Google puts to rootear smartphones, is going through its best, although the developers do not stop serving us some interesting ROMs. Although most manufacturers do not make things too easy, there are still some who might consider themselves friends of the development community.

One of them is Sony which, with its Open Devices program, opens the devices included in it to the developers, who will be able to create ROMs thanks to which they will be able to have access to the files of the supported models. Still missing to include some of the latest phones, but the Japanese manufacturer has put the batteries adding to the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact.

The inclusion of the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact in the Open Devices program opens doors to the development of ROMs based on Android Oreo.Today the Sony Mobile developers blog has announced that the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, presented at the IFA Berlin, have been added to the Open Devices program, so that developers can from now on create their own ROMs based on Android Oreo and flaseharlas in these two models.

Of course, this opens the door to the ports to other models of Sony smartphones (The Xperia XZ Premium, by its similarity in specifications, would be the simplest in theory). Even if some developer is brave enough and skilled enough, he could behave to some other brand mobiles.

In the blog of the developers of Sony warn that the software is only for developers and may be unstable. Anyway, they have left the instructions to follow to be able to develop the AOSP of Oreo in the Xperia mobiles unlocked. The owners of one of these two phones, you only have to have a little patience to enjoy a personalized ROM.
